Day 157, 31st October, Bishkek

Ensconced in our very nice and reasonably-priced hotel in Bishkek, we can now get a good phone signal which means that the mifi works and I can upload the Tibet pics for anyone who cares to scroll back and look at them.

Drove for most of the day to Bishkek and found what seemed to be a nice place to camp on the northern edge of the city. Rudely awakened about 2 am by a knock on the door and confronted by four policemen. A cursory demand to see passports and the vehicle reg, and a further demand for 1,000 som (£10) bribe. I gave them 900 and they buggered off. Kyrgyzstan is full of lovely people who work very hard for not very much while the police get rich by stealing from the population.
